The Real Problem

Test & Tag Compliance Rarely Gets Attention Until It's Overdue

Most northern suburbs businesses only think about test and tag when an auditor, insurer or new landlord asks for the paperwork. By then it's usually one of these four problems.

01

Tags Have Quietly Expired

Office kitchens, workshops and warehouses in Wangara and Malaga often run months past their retest date before anyone notices a tag has lapsed.

02

RCDs Never Get Checked

Safety switches are easy to forget because they sit inside the switchboard — but WHS regulations require regular push-button and injection testing all the same.

03

No Paperwork On Audit Day

A WorkSafe inspection or insurance renewal asks for the test logbook, and there isn't one — or it's scattered across old emails and previous contractors.

04

Wrong Retest Cycle Applied

A Joondalup office and a Wangara workshop don't share the same testing interval — using the wrong cycle leaves a business non-compliant without realising it.

ACS Electrical - Know Your Cycle
Know Your Cycle

How Often Does Your Site Actually Need Testing?

AS/NZS 3760:2022 sets the retest interval by environment, not by guesswork. Pick your business type and rough appliance count to see where you likely sit.

Estimate only, based on typical AS/NZS 3760 retest intervals for northern suburbs commercial sites — confirm your exact schedule at a site assessment.

Dane and I have worked together on a few projects, and he is by far the best electrician I’ve come across. He is highly knowledgeable, takes the time to guide you in the right direction, and never rushes his work. His attention to detail and strict adherence to safety procedures really set him apart. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled electrician.

Fair pricing and easy to deal with. If you looking for some, look no further. Can’t recommend Dane enough.Thank you for installing our smart switches.

Test & Tag Questions We Get Asked

Straight answers — call us on 0419 967 838 for anything specific to your site.

Yes. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996, anyone in control of a workplace must ensure portable electrical equipment and RCDs are inspected, tested and maintained by a competent person. It's regulated in WA by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.

It depends on the environment under AS/NZS 3760:2022 — typically 6 months for warehouses and commercial kitchens, 12 months for offices and general commercial spaces, and 3 months for construction or demolition sites. We confirm the right cycle at your site assessment.

A visual inspection followed by PAT testing for earth resistance, insulation resistance and leakage current on every plug-in item, plus RCD safety switch testing on request. Passed items are tagged with the retest date; failed items get a danger/out-of-service tag and you're notified directly.

Yes — a digital test logbook is emailed within 24 hours of every visit, and we keep a copy on file too. If you'd like, we'll also send a reminder ahead of your next retest date so nothing lapses.

Yes — most sites bundle appliance test and tag with RCD injection testing and emergency/exit light discharge testing into a single scheduled visit, so it's one contractor and one invoice instead of three.
